The early-evening ritual of a drink with a light buffet or snacks, typically from around 6 to 9pm — Trastevere and Monti both do this well.
Wine bars
Monti's small enotecas are built for slow evenings with a short, well-chosen list rather than a long cocktail menu.
Later nights
Testaccio holds most of Rome's clubs and later-night venues, largely clustered around the old Mattatoio and Monte Testaccio.
