September averages 25°C with low rain; October drops to around 18°C with occasional showers returning by late month. A light jacket becomes necessary by mid-October evenings.
Food season
Autumn is truffle season and the grape harvest — trattorias update their menus with porcini mushrooms, fresh truffles and the season's new wine, making this arguably the best time of year to eat well in Rome.
