How late is late
Rome's restaurant kitchens regularly serve until 11pm or later at weekends — "late night" in Rome starts after midnight, by which point options genuinely thin. The neighborhoods that keep going longest are Testaccio (clubs and late bars with food), Trastevere (bars with snacks), and the area around Campo de' Fiori.
Pizza by the slice
Several pizza al taglio shops in the historic center and Trastevere operate until 1 or 2am at weekends — a practical and genuinely good post-evening option. Look for shops where locals are eating rather than tourist-targeted spots selling day-old slices reheated.
Suppli and fried food
A handful of Roman fry shops stay open late — supplì, fried artichokes and battered cod at a price point that makes them the city's best late-night street food. Testaccio has the most reliable late-night options in this category.
