Art walks in Rome

Self-guided routes through the city's outdoor art — no ticket required.

The Baroque fountain walk

Trevi Fountain → Piazza Navona (Bernini's Four Rivers) → Piazza della Rotonda (Pantheon) → Piazza Farnese. About 2km on foot through the historic center, hitting four of Rome's greatest Baroque set pieces.

The Caravaggio churches walk

Six Caravaggios are accessible in Rome's churches for free: San Luigi dei Francesi (three paintings including The Calling of Saint Matthew), Sant'Agostino (Madonna di Loreto), and Santa Maria del Popolo (two more). A single morning can cover all of them.

Trastevere mosaics

Santa Maria in Trastevere and Santa Cecilia in Trastevere both contain extraordinary medieval mosaics accessible free or for a small donation — an hour in the neighborhood covers both plus the piazza atmosphere around them.
